Gerry Brownlee becomes National Deputy Leader
Ilam MP Gerry Brownlee has been voted unopposed into the job of Deputy Leader at a National Party Caucus meeting today.
"I'm delighted and looking forward to the challenges of the new job, helping to mould our new team.
"We're now focussing on the task at hand, which is tackling this Labour Government with renewed energy.
"I'm committed to helping make sure Don Brash becomes the next Prime Minister of our great country, because New Zealanders are becoming increasingly sick of Labour's constant social engineering.
"They want what National wants; freedom of choice, personal responsibility and one standard of citizenship.
"I believe they want a Government that's not driven by ideological agendas and one that drives economic growth," says Mr Brownlee.
"National is back on its feet and we're determined to bring Labour to its knees," says Mr Brownlee.
