Govt must reassure they won't interfere in Zaoui case
"It's alarming that the Government is refusing to rule out interfering with the Inspector General of Security's review of the Ahmed Zaoui case," says National's Immigration spokesman Dr Wayne Mapp.
Dr Mapp is commenting on an opportunity for the Immigration Minister to set the record straight in Parliament today. But the Deputy Prime Minister objected to her answering it.
"This fuels speculation that the Government plans to interfere with the role of Justice Greig," says Dr Mapp.
"The Zaoui case is of fundamental importance to the security of the nation, and we need a clear assurance from Labour that it won't undermine what is effectively a judicial process by meddling," says Dr Mapp.
