Dunne: Junior Nat MP undermining Don Brash
United Future leader, Peter Dunne, is asking whether National leader, Dr Don Brash is aware of what one of his junior backbenchers is up to.
“National’s very recently-appointed family spokesperson, Judith Collins, in a vitriolic attack on the Families Commission, claims there are many other things that the Commission’s money could buy and goes on to boldly assert that National will never support the Commission,” he said.
“In her eagerness to attack this family-friendly legislation, Ms Collins is either unaware or doesn’t care that United Future has made it very clear that support for the Commission is a bottom line condition for United Future support of any future government.
“Effectively, the very junior MP, Ms Collins, has told Dr Brash that he cannot negotiate with United Future at any time in the future, should he wish to gain our support to form a government.
“I have no doubt Dr Brash will be most displeased at this usurpation of his authority and confidently look forward to the demotion of Ms Collins to the ranking now occupied by Maurice Williamson,” said Mr Dunne.
