One Law For All
One Law For All
Thursday 12 Feb 2004 Richard Prebble Press Releases -- Other
ACT Leader Richard Prebble announced today that the ACT party is erecting billboards to support the One Law For All campaign.
"ACT is funding this campaign ourselves. We are using the same billboard advertisements that we used in the last election campaign. We are making the point that where ACT leads others follow.
"Unlike New Zealand First, ACT is not concerned that the National party has joined our crusade. ACT has always been the party with fresh ideas for old problems. It was ACT that first proposed there should be fair, full and final settlements to Treaty claims by a timetable. This was a policy proposal, which even though every party in parliament voted against when ACT first proposed it, is now supported by most parties in parliament.
"ACT also was the first to call for one law for all - a proposal it appears up to 90 percent of the electorate supports.
"Most New Zealanders realise that this is a key issue. ACT des not intend dropping this issue but will not only press on until the next election, but then as part of our policy of keeping parliament honest, will ensure that the next Centre-Right government carries out this policy.
"The billboard campaign is just the start", said Mr Prebble.
