NZ First Criticises Lange's Land Transport Adverts
Money, Money, Money: Lange At It Again!!
“David Lange, one time Prime Minister, who sold everything he could for cash and became the greatest revenue gatherer for the Government of all time, is at it again,” said New Zealand First transport spokesperson, Peter Brown.
“By being the centre-piece of a full page advertisement for the Land Transport Safety Authority, in which he tells us speed camera warning signs are coming down, he is again up to his old tricks – collecting revenue for the Government at the public’s expense.
“He admits in the advert that speed camera warning signs have played a part in slowing drivers down – some to only speed up later. However, the intention to remove the signs and ‘hope’ (Lange’s word) motorists will slow down totally, defies logic. Undoubtedly there will be more motorists caught and more revenue for the Government.
“The answer, of course, is to acknowledge the
signs do have an effect at slowing drivers and put up more!!
But that is too simple for this Government,” said Mr
Brown.
