Erratic Nats Confused Over Super
Rt Hon Winston Peters says National is in a state of total confusion over superannuation and its only likely policy is to slash the rates paid to elderly people like it did last time.
Mr Peters said that National was initially going to raid the Cullen fund and pay it out in reduced taxes, now it wants the money directed into infrastructure.
“Add to that Dr Brash’s warning that the superannuation payment levels can’t be sustained and you have a picture of a party in total confusion over an issue that affects the lives of every New Zealander.
“It seems that National MPs like John Keys are following their leader by learning on the job, thinking out aloud, and stealing policy ideas from the New Zealand First website.
“Superannuation is too important to be left to political apprentices,” said Mr Peters.

First policy requires the fund managers to invest in New
Zealand infrastructure and growth industries including
making funds available at competitive interest rates to
Transfund/Transit, the proposed rail track enterprise, and
local government for capital projects)
