Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad

The choice of law and order as new National party leader Don Brash’s second policy platform has a familiar ring about it, says New Zealand First leader Winston Peters.

“Is it coincidence, or is Mr Brash simply marking off each of the three platforms from New Zealand First’s election campaign? I guess that while he seems to want to naively discount working with us in a future government, he seems content to pilfer our policies.

“However, like Brash’s foray into Treaty issues, this latest effort will prove worthless without a policy prescription to back up the rhetoric. New Zealand First’s policies of doubling police numbers, de-merging traffic officers to allow the police to refocus on solving crime and strengthening parole and sentencing laws are the only real solutions to law and order issues.

“New Zealanders are waking up to the fact that Brash can steal our ideas, stir up the pot, but his apprenticeship hasn’t reached the stage of providing policies to back up his talk.

“But two policy fronts out of three ain’t bad and we look forward to his Owera speech on immigration,” said Mr Peters.
