The Relationships (Statutory References) Bill was referred to the Justice and Electoral Committee with a report due 28 December 2004.

The Electoral Matters Bill was referred to the Justice and Electoral Committee with a report due 1 November 2004.

The Criminal Procedure Bill was referred to the Law and Order Committee with a report due 28 December 2004.

The Animal Products (Dairy Products and Other Matters) Bill was referred to the Primary Production Committee with a report due 28 December 2004.

The Land Transport Amendment Bill was referred to the Transport and Industrial Relations Committee with a report due 28 December 2004.

Commerce (Michelle Malyon, SC-Commerce@parliament.govt.nz)

The committee met on 1 July to hear evidence on the 2004/05 Estimates for Vote Energy.

The committee next meets on 22 July to further its consideration of the 2004/05 Estimates; this meeting will not be open to the public.

Finance and Expenditure (Peter Hurndell, SC-FE@parliament.govt.nz)

The committee met this week to consider the 2004/05 Estimates of Appropriations Votes: State-Owned Enterprises; Arts, Culture and Heritage; and Immigration.

The committee is next scheduled to meet on 21 July, to further consider the 2004/05 Estimates of Appropriations Votes: Audit; Finance; Revenue; State-Owned Enterprises; Arts, Culture and Heritage; and Immigration. The committee is also scheduled to consider the Public Finance (State Sector Management) Bill, and is expected to complete its hearing of submissions on the Taxation (Annual Rates, Venture Capital and Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill.

Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade (David Sanders, SC-FD@parliament.govt.nz)

The committee did not meet this week due to the House being in urgency. The next meeting is scheduled for 15 July when the committee will hear evidence on 2004/05 Estimates Votes Foreign Affairs and Trade, Official Development Assistance, Defence, and Defence Force.

Government Administration (Lesley Ferguson, SC-GA@parliament.govt.nz)

The committee next meets on 15 July.

Health (Catherine Parkin, SC-Health@parliament.govt.nz)

The committee met on 30 June to hear evidence from the Minister of Health, Hon Annette King, on the 2004/05 Estimates for Vote Health. The committee is next expected to meet on 21 July.

Justice and Electoral (Angela Van Dam, SC-JE@parliament.govt.nz)

The committee met on 29 June to consider the Lawyers and Conveyancers Bill.

The committee will meet next on 21 July to consider the 2004/05 Estimates for Vote Justice, and the Lawyers and Conveyancers Bill.

Law and Order (Tracey Rayner, SC-LO@parliament.govt.nz)

The committee did not meet this week due to the House going into urgency.

The committee's next meeting is scheduled for 14 July to consider and hear evidence on the 2004/05 Estimates for Vote Courts. The Minister of Courts, Hon Rick Barker and Secretary for Justice, Belinda Clark will give evidence at the hearing, which will be open to the public from 9.30 am to 11.30 am.

Local Government and Environment (Beth Watson, SC-LGE@parliament.govt.nz)

The committee met on 1 July and continued to consider its inquiry into the alleged accidental release of genetically engineered sweet corn plants in 2000 and subsequent actions taken. Submissions for the Wellington Regional Council (Water Board Functions) Bill have been called for and close on 18 August.

The committee will next meet on 22 July to continue its examination of the 2004/05 Estimates. It will hear evidence on Vote Environment and consider both Vote Environment and Vote Climate Change and Energy Efficiency.

Primary Production (Bob Bunch, SC-PP@parliament.govt.nz)

The committee met on 1 July to consider its programme for the remainder of July. It has received an extension of two weeks to 10 August to its consideration of the Fisheries Amendment Bill (No.3).

The committee's next meeting will be on 22 July from 9.30 am to 5.00 pm. It will consider and hear evidence on Vote Lands, and give further consideration to Votes Agriculture and Forestry, Biosecurity, Fisheries and Food Safety in the examination of the 2004/05 Estimates. The committee will also consider and hear evidence on the Fisheries Amendment Bill (No.3).

Regulations Review (Michael Wilkinson, SC-RR@parliament.govt.nz)

This week the committee presented its report on the inquiry into the principles determining whether delegated legislation is given the status of regulations. The committee made two key recommendations to the Government designed to enhance Parliament's control over delegated legislation, more commonly known as regulations. The committee will next meet on 28 July to continue its scrutiny of new Government regulations.

Social Services (Graham Hill, SC-SS@parliament.govt.nz)

The committee will meet next on 8 July to hear evidence on Votes Child, Youth and Family Services and Employment.

Transport and Industrial Relations (Kath Henderson, SC-TI@parliament.govt.nz)

The committee will next meet on 22 July to further consider the 2004/05 Estimates for Votes Transport, ACC and Labour, the Employment Relations Law Reform Bill and the Railways Bill. The meeting will not be open to the public.
