Maori Party Statement on Waipareira Trust

Maori Party Statement on Waipareira Trust

“We are disappointed that the President of the Labour Party, Mike Williams, and the Electorate Chairperson for the Honourable John Tamihere, Mike Tollich, have reverted to personal attacks upon individuals involved in the Maori Party over the media in the last two days” said Tariana Turia, Co-leader of the Maori Party today.

“Mike Williams and Mike Tollich should focus on supporting their member, the Honourable John Tamihere, rather than looking for someone-else to blame”.

“None of these allegations are new and have been swirling around well before the advent of the Maori party”.

“We recognise that this has been a very difficult situation for all those involved with the Waipareira Trust, and have considerable sympathy for the impact that this will cause on the work of the Trust, and more importantly, on the confidence of the many whanau who have needed their services”.

“Let due process take its course and then let people make informed comment” stated Tariana Turia.
