Bill English joins thousands of people all over the world on Sing4Peace.com
The leader of the Opposition, National Party leader Bill English, has pledged his support for Sing4Peace this week. All of those registered are listed on www.sing4peace.com and also include the Speaker of the House, Jonathan Hunt, who is hoping to gather a number of people together in the Legislative Chambers to sing at midday on Thursday.
At Selwyn House School, 122 Merivale Lane, ChCh:
From 11.15am, guests start arriving. Invited guests include: Members of the NZ Army Band; Capt Rose Fraser (a SHS old girl who has been a part of the student's "War and Conflict" studies); The Wizard; school board members; the whole school - 300 girls and teachers; the Selwyn House pre-school and several other local pre-schools; Don Lord from World Vision; John Garden from the Salvation Army; Murray Lennox who organised the Cant/Westland Schools Music Festival recently. Invitations have been distributed to local MP's; all residents within a block radius; Lyn Campbell - children's advocate from the City Council.
Two girls will perform a peace dance (ballet) and the Year 7/8's will sing "The Peace Song" which they have composed themselves. They will all sing "Let there be peace on Earth" at midday, with the SHS choir. There will be candles, song sheets and a lot of music!

At Parliament:
Hon.
Bill English - National Party Leader has registered. He said
in his registration:
"Well done for taking the initiative
and doing something positive. I am unable to take part but I
hope the event goes well for you and all those
involved".
Hon. Jonathon Hunt - Speaker of the House has
registered and says: "With the support of some fellow
parliamentary staff, I will be singing in the Legislative
Chambers on Thursday at noon".
Camp Mother and Camp Leader to sing
They wrote: "Hi every body - We would love to support your idea and take great pride in knowing that young New Zealanders still believe in promoting peace in the world. Keep us in touch with your project." Jools and Lynda Topp (in AKL for the Music Awards).
Community Radio PLAINS FM96.9 Christchurch
A group of girls will be on air at the radio station's request, to sing "Let There Be Peace" live at 12 noon that day!! Contact is Nicki Reece at Plains.
Cattle Creek, NZ
Cattle Creek School wrote: "We love singing and we will join you on Thursday - all 9 voices from Cattle Creek School. We also have a soldier (called Angus) in the NZ Army who went to East Timor and we sent him footballs and other balls for the children in East Timor."

Garden International School, Rayong, Thailand
300 people will be singing,
Rygaards Skole, Copenhagen, Denmark
325 students aged 4-17yrs from more than 65 nationalities will be singing.
Northern District Hospital, Luganville, Vanuatu.
9 people will sing, they wrote "Fanatastic idea! We will be singing with you on Thursday 29 November".
Kohimarama School, Auckland
The whole school: 472 children, 35 staff will be singing.
St Kentigern School, Auckland
They wrote "The whole school would very much like to join you on Thursday 29 November at 12.00 noon. Congratulations on a wonderful idea".
Lincoln, Canterbury
Lincoln High School is singing at midday - over 1000
people.
Bellbridge Primary School, Hoppers Crossing,

550 students and teachers. "This idea
sounds absolutely fantastic and you should all be very proud
of yourselves to come up with such a positive idea. Well
done".
Catholic Cathedral College, Christchurch
200 people will sing.
Naenae Primary School, Wellington
Wrote: "We would love to join you in singing this song. We have started teaching our whole school (approx. 240 chn) the song".
