NZDF to assist with Bali evacuation

An Air Force C-130 Hercules, carrying a team of military and civilian personnel is ready to depart Whenuapai for Darwin to provide support to the Australian Defence Force (ADF) after the recent bombing in the Indonesian island of Bali.

The aircraft and medical team, a mix of doctors, nurses and medics, will join the ADF’s aero medical evacuation operation in Darwin and will fly internally within Australia, where the transport of burns victims is being given priority. The team is a composite of military personnel and civilian medical specialists who are based in Auckland and have worked with the NZDF on previous occasions.

Medical equipment including resuscitation, burns and emergency care apparatus will be on board the aircraft, which is due to depart at approximately 7pm tonight.
