Anti-War Campaign Steps Up
Anti-War Campaign Steps Up
It is clear that there will be war within days.
Global Peace and Justice Auckland is stepping up the anti-war campaign with a march and rally this Saturday.
Peach March Saturday 22 March 12noon QE II Square (bottom of Queen St)
A host of organisations are supporting this anti-war effort which will express the community outrage felt by so many people at the illegal, immoral war planned by the "gang of 3".
The US is following a pre-determined plan for war decided upon several years ago. America wants cheap Iraqi oil to boost its economy as well as wanting much more direct control of the entire Gulf region in line with its comic book plans for global dominance.
American imperialism now poses a reckless threat to world stability and peace.
Protest will also be directed at the New Zealand government's unspoken support for the American war effort through for example -
Our frigate Te Mana escorting American warships and munition supply vessels on their way to attack Iraq The proposed deployment of an orion for "surveillance" duty in the region The presence of NZ military personnel at Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan where torture and murder of prisoners of war is routine Spying on our friends and neighbours for the US war effort through the Waihopai spybase in Marlborough.
Ideas for further community action against the war will be raised at the rally following the march.
If the bombing starts earlier than Saturday there
will also be a protest outside the US consulate from 5pm the
same day.
