Defence Chief Welcomes New Structure
The Chief of the Defence Force, Air Marshal Bruce Ferguson, today welcomed the findings of the review into accountabilities and structural arrangements between the Ministry of Defence and the New Zealand Defence Force.
“We are already moving down the path of working more closely and cooperatively. The review endorses the direction we are taking and provides a catalyst to enhance our efforts. “The review will give us a more effective management structure to deal with a lot of the pressures we are facing. The review is an opportunity to further cement in a joint culture which embraces single Services professional ethos while removing unnecessary duplication of effort that can detract from achieving greater effectiveness.
Under the recommendations of the
report Service Chiefs will, from today, become Chief of
Navy, Chief of Army and Chief of Air Force.
