ANZAC Support For Injured NZ Officer

ANZAC Support For Injured NZ Officer

NZ Army officer, Major Todd Hart, who was injured in the explosion at the UN building in Baghdad early Wednesday morning (NZ time) has now been moved to a US military hospital in Kuwait.

He was in the UN building at the time of the explosion and his injuries are a broken right arm and lacerations to his face.

Arriving in Kuwait with only the clothes he was wearing, his passport and identity card, Major Hart has found the ANZAC tradition of mutual support alive and well as a Royal Australian Air Force contingent based there has assumed responsibility for providing personal and welfare support to him.

A decision has yet to be made whether he will remain in the Middle East to recover, or return to New Zealand.

Major Hart was deployed to Iraq in May 2003 to work with the UN Mine Action Service (UNMAS).
