The Princess Royal Supports Save the Children's Annual Appeal

Her Royal Highness, International patron of Save the Children, met with Save the Children staff and volunteers at Government House in Wellington today to mark the organisation's Annual Appeal Week which ends on Monday (20/10).

As President of Save the Children UK, the largest member of the International Save the Children Alliance, The Princess Royal requested to meet with Save the Children New Zealand representatives during her brief visit to New Zealand. Topping the meeting's agenda was Save the Children's Annual Appeal Week, which the organisation hopes will raise over $600,000 for children.

Save the Children New Zealand's Executive Director John Bowis said today: "We're delighted that such a well known supporter of Save the Children worldwide is in New Zealand during our most important fundraising week."

The Princess Royal is in New Zealand for the 2003 Commonwealth Study Conference, co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand. The Conference, held every six years, was founded by HRH the Duke of Edinburgh to develop potential leaders from forty Commonwealth countries.

It's not too late to give to Save the children's Annual appeal. Call freephone 0800 167 168 today or donate online at http://www.savethechildren.org.nz
