Police Seek Info in Shooting of Jack Nicholas (72)

Police are currently investigating the shooting of 72 year old Jack Nicholas.

Mr Nicholas was found dead on his property "Makahu Farm" at around 6.45am on Friday 27 August 2004. The farm is located up Makahu Road, which is the access road to the Mangatutu Hot Springs at the foot of the Kaweka Ranges.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area around the time, including hunters and trampers, as they may have information that could be insignificant to them but important to this enquiry.

This also includes any suspicious vehicles, persons or incidents in the days or weeks leading up to Mr Nicholas’ death.

We are particularly keen to hear from anyone about vehicle movements on the evening of Thursday the 26th August and the morning of Friday 27th August.

If you have any information please contact the Napier Police on telephone number (06) 831-0700 or information could be given by phoning the toll free crime line on 0800 567 789.
