WELLINGTON (Pacific Ecologist/Pacific Media Watch): Pacific Ecologist journal has published a double issue 7/8 with the theme, 'Pacific people's struggle for survival'.

The 88-page issue of 17 articles, uses the voices of Pacific peoples to promote the establishment of the region as a zone of peace and sustainability, and as an alternative to the 'war on terrorism'.

It covers a wide range of topics, including:

* Devastating wars being inflicted on Pacific peoples hidden from the eyes of the world in West Papua, and in Aceh.

* Plans to combat climate change on Pacific Islands.

* Pacific nuclear devastation.

* The invaluable ecological knowledge of Pacific peoples;.

* Threats to media and democracy.

* Economic oppression of indigenous Australians.

* And what to do about it.
