Philosophically Bankrupt Families Commission
New Families Commission head Dr Rajen Prasad, described as a "champion of the family" has apparently got no idea what constitutes a family!
'Whatever the family is, it needs to be supported' he has said.
This apparently philosophically bankrupt Commission is claimed by the Leader of the United Future Party, Hon. Peter Dunne, to be his party's brainchild and living proof of the the effectiveness of his party's influence on government policy. Critics might scornfully respond "Yeah right!" (Dunne has made it clear that UF is not a Christian party). Millions of dollars have already been budgeted for by the government for this Commission's operation, much to the delight of Dunne and his party members. However, Society secretary David Lane asks, "Should we not sound a cautionary note, if not alarm bells, when the commission's head reveals publicly that he has no idea what constitutes a family?"
The Society is calling on Dr Prasad and Mr Dunne to explain whether any of the following assortments of human persons constitute a "family" in terms of family eligibility criteria for Comission financial handouts.
1. Two lesbians who have chosen not to enter a so-called "civil union", cohabiting in a sexual/domestic relationship, together with children born to one or both partners via IVF.
2. A transexual, who has undergone a sex operation to become a 'women', and a homosexual man, cohabiting in a sexual/domestic relationship, together with a child for whom the homosexual has guardianship responsibility (the child was born to a lesbian, now deceased, who used the man's donated sperm for IVF treatment). The two adults have chosen not to enter a civil union.
3. A bisexual person living in a sexual/domestic relationship with a lesbian and and a homosexual man, an adult three-some, together with children born to the lesbian via IVF and children for whom the homosexual has guardianship rights due to the passing away of a lesbian through whom he obtained children prior to living with the bisexual.
4. Two homosexual men who have chosen not to enter a civil union, cohabiting in a sexual/domestic relationship, who live with their children they have both fathered through one lesbian woman via IVF, as well as the same lesbian mother.
5. Two bisexual couples who are in a loving open group relationship together with kids they have had from previous short-term relationships before opting for a bisexual lifestyle.
6. A de-facto heterosexual couple living with a bisexual and her kids.
7. A middle-aged homosexual man living in a civil-union relationship with a 16-year old homosexual boy, together with three young boys born to a lesbian (now deceased) with whom the older man assisted in creating a 'family' via IVF.
"The Society," says Lane, "is calling on Mr Dunne and his party to assure the public that it will hold Dr Prasad and the government to advancing policies that uphold and strengthen marriage and the traditional family". Furthermore, he said "it is calling on the party to state clearly how the Relationships (Statutory Amendment) Bill, which is expected to be supported by every member of the Labour Cabinet, most Labour MPs and the every member of the Green Party, in a conscience vote later this year, can possibly help to strengthen long-term stable marriages and advance the rights of kids to be brought up in a loving stable relationship with input from a both a commited mother and a father."

Families are changing, with fewer couples marrying and more older couples divorcing......
But the country's latest champion of the family, new Families Commission head Dr Rajen Prasad, denounced the "moral panic" and said families were very resilient to change.
"Children are better off with two parents committed to each other - we don't dispute that. But there are a good number of two-parent families making a mess of it and there are any number of single-parent families doing exceptionally well."
Prasad avoided defining who makes up a family, and instead described families by their functions - raising children, loving and caring for family members, passing information and traditions across generations.
"Whatever the family is, it needs to be supported.".....
