Police warn on home detention escapee

Police are warning that a man who escaped from home detention in Hamilton this week is dangerous and should not be approached.

Sean Patrick Broderick, 37, walked out of a Sillary St, Hamilton house last Saturday evening. He was picked up by two men in a white ute.

Broderick was on home detention at the house and left the property with his home detention anklet still attached to his leg. He has not been seen since.

Police say Broderick is classed as a high-risk offender who is "very violent". He has a lengthy criminal history and has strong gang affiliations. While Broderick has family ties to the Waikato, he may also be in the Auckland area by now.

Broderick was released from prison on home detention on 6 December last year. He was due to be officially released from prison in March this year. There are now immediate recall warrants for his arrest.

Broderick is also suffering from a medical condition and needs to take regular medication. He did not take that with him when he left the house.

Police are urging people to contact them if they see Broderick or if they know where he is. He is considered dangerous to the public and should not be approached.
