Weather for the Rugby Tests
MetService meteorologists are forecasting a cold night with a light northerly breeze for the first rugby test between the All Blacks and England at Carisbrook in Dunedin on Saturday evening.
"The temperature is expected to hover around 5 degrees during the game," commented MetService Weather Ambassador, Bob McDavitt. "The dry spell currently covering Otago should last until Sunday, and so the weather forecast is for good conditions for either running or kicking."
The sunny days and frosty nights that have been affecting much of the country this week are associated with a large slow-moving high-pressure system. Early next week northwest winds are expected to return to the South Island, and these may well be followed by a trough bringing unsettled weather to Auckland around the time of the second test on 19 June.
