Nazeeh Shalabi, the Palestinian man who had remained in the Ariel prison (in the illegal settlement of Ariel) was released on bail this morning. He was the last person to be released after border police and the Israeli Military stormed the peaceful protest on August 5 at Mas'ha, detaining 44 people, including internationals, Israeli peace activists and Palestinians. There were no conditions, but he will be expected to be available for questioning. At this writing, he has gone home to an overjoyed family in Mas'ha.
For those of you who called the Ariel prison, wrote stories about the illegal incarceration, and especially for those young Israeli peace activists who occupied the equipment yesterday expecting to be arrested, we thank you. They wanted to show their support for Nazeeh Shalabi and their disgust over the building of the Apartheid Wall and went willingly off to Ariel prison to stand with Nazeeh. They were released last night along with Mohammed Darwish, the Palestinian photographer from the AP.
We are still waiting for an update on the young Italian kindergarten teacher who has been accused of assaulting a police officer and is being held in an Israeli prison. We will update you with her news as soon as we know.
