RAFAH, Palestine -- The Governor of Rafah, Mr. Majeed Al Agha, referred to the Israeli crimes in Rafah during the incursion, highlighting the wide range of devastation caused by this heinous brutal incursion. The drainage and water systems were damaged, the thing that led to mixing sewage with drinking water. In addition, damages to the electricity grids and phone cables, along with razing vast areas of agricultural lands were added to the gross devastation caused by the Israeli incursion.

Al Agha was speaking in a press conference held in the Rafah governorate building in the city of Rafah, saying that the Israeli forces have imposed tight curfews on the civilians of the governorate and have banned the access of medical staffs to the besieged places. Therefore, this led to the insufficiency of food and medication, especially for children and patients.

He also called upon instant and effective interference by the international community to put an end for the Israeli heinous aggression against the Palestinian people, for it contradicts all the international and humanitarian laws, calling again for international protection for Palestinians from such aggression.

17 Palestinian civilians were killed and 122 others were wounded including a large number of children over the ten bloody days of the Israeli incursion into Rafah governorate, south of Gaza Strip, leaving wide devastation in the public and the personal properties.

The total number of houses completely destroyed by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in Rafah along the three years of Al Aqsa Intefada was 1,128 while the number of houses partially destroyed was estimated about 557. However, in its last incursion into Rafah, IOF destroyed 161 houses completely and 32 others partially, causing damages to 230 houses and displacing 267 families consisting of 1,250 civilians.

Similarly, the Palestinian President's advisor for human rights, Ibrahim Abu Daqqa, strongly condemned the brutal massacre committed by the Israeli forces. In this context, he condemned the last Israeli decision of expelling 18 Palestinian prisoners from the West Bank to Gaza Strip along with the Israeli continued siege on Arafat’s presidential premises.

Moreover, Mr Abu Daqqa called upon the Security Council to provide protection for the Palestinian people and upon the Quartet committee to push Israel into ending its continued aggression, construction of the separation barrier, and expelling of Palestinians.

Also, he launched an urgent appeal for the Arab States to provide help for the affected people of Rafah.

On the other hand, director general of "Abu Yosef Al Najjar" hospital in Rafah, Dr. Ali Mousa, said that the human losses were estimated about 17 civilians, besides 122 others wounded with live bullets and shells fired by the Israeli soldiers over the last ten days at different areas of the governorate of Rafah.

35 of them were severely wounded and 52 were under 18 years. In addition, the bodies of two killed children were completely and brutally maimed.

The Israeli forces opened fire towards the ambulances and the medical staffs, hampering with this their work, Mr. Mousa added.
