Islamic Jihad Vows Revenge
The invasion is the deadliest IOF raid into the Gaza Strip in more than one month, witnesses told Reuters.
IOF sealed off the Gaza neighborhood, and prevented medical teams and ambulances from rescuing wounded casualties.
Early on Wednesday, two Israeli tanks and several armored bulldozers moved out of the illegal Jewish settlement of Netzarim, witnesses said.
“The operation was intended to strike at people who every night are firing mortars and planting bombs against Netzarim,” an IOF spokesman claimed in a statement that refutes IOF claims that their new invasion was in retaliation to Palestinian attacks.
The Islamic Jihad said at least five of its defenders were among the martyrs and vowed revenge for the tank invasion of a densely - populated Palestinian residential neighborhood.
“The bloody message has been received...and the Palestinian people will know how to respond to it,” Islamic Jihad leader Mohammed Al-Hindi told Reuters.
Separately, IOF detained five Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, three in Khan Younis and two east of Beit Hanoun.
Also on Tuesday, IOF demolished the house of Ahmad Saeed in Dir El-Balah town as their sporadic machine gunfire wounded two high school students inside their classroom east of Rafah, WAFA reported.
On Sunday, two Palestinians were wounded, one seriously, when an IOF tank shelled Kizan Al-Najjar south of Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip.
On Saturday, two Palestinians were shot dead by the IOF east of Gaza City. They were identified as brothers Samir Mohammad Alembayyed, 23, and 25-year old Nassrullah Abdullah Alembayyed.
