UK PM Blair thanks Germany for Afghanistan contribution
Germany's help in bringing peace and stability to Afghanistan is of immense importance, the Prime Minister said following talks with Chancellor Schroeder last night.
Taking questions from journalists following the talks, Mr Blair said the German contribution "is making a big, big difference to that country".
"The commitment of Germany in Afghanistan has been of huge importance, to ourselves, to the United States, to all our allies, because that is a country that was the centre of the Taliban and international terrorism."
On Iraq, the Prime Minister said that
whatever the past differences on the conflict, everyone
wants to see a stable, democratic and prosperous country.
The two leaders also discussed the upcoming European Summit
in March and the European Constitution.
