Demonstrations Sweep Across Palestinian Cities to Condemn Killing of Al Rantisi

OCCUPIED TERRITORIES, Palestine - - In protest against the Israeli terrorist attack Saturday evening that resulted in the death of Hamas leader in Gaza Dr. Abdel Aziz Al Rantisi along with his two bodyguards, thousands of Palestinians swept across the streets of the West Bank city of Nablus today morning.


The gathering citizens carried a symbolic coffin for the killed Hamas leader and raised anti Israeli occupation banners and posters.

Likewise, a state of anger and sorrow transmitted through the West Bank city of Jericho over the killing of Dr. Al Rantisi. In response, the stores of the city shut doors and student demonstrations took to streets to condemn the Israeli gross crime.

The demonstrating students headed to the Israeli checkpoints erected on the entrance of the city to express their fierce indignance against the Israeli aggressions. The Israeli soldiers in the region replied with heavy shooting and tear gas canisters.

In the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah, a general strike has been declared and demonstrations protesting the Israeli assassination of Al Rantisi swept along the streets of Rafah.

Meanwhile, hundreds of mourners offered their condolences in a tent erected specially for the purpose in the city.

Also, the Palestinian national and Islamic parties issued statements condemning the crime and considering it a blatant violation of human rights and international humanitarian laws, calling on the Arab states and the international community to put an end to the Israeli indifference to the Palestinians' lives and to take responsibility and strict measures against the attacks led by Sharon's government.

In Hebron, massive angry demonstrations ripped through many parts of the city in condemnation of the Israeli liquidation of Hamas leader.

The demonstrations ended up with clashes with the Israeli highly alerted forces. Eight citizens were reportedly wounded and two others were arrested.

Similarly, today afternoon thousands of Palestinians in the West Bank city of Tulkarem demonstrated across the streets to express anger and condemnation over the Israeli murder of Dr. Al Rantisi.

The demonstrations were followed by a rally in the heart of the city.

Massive demonstrations overwhelmed the city of Khan Younis as thousands of citizens participated in protesting the Israeli crime of extra-judicially execution of Hamas leader Dr. Abdel Aziz Al Rantisi. The demonstrators marched towards the family house of Al Rantisi in the city, carrying posters of him and Palestinian flags, and chanting slogans condemning the hideous crime.

Also, in the West Bank city of Bethlehem, hundreds of citizens took to the streets protesting the murder of Al Rantisi, as different national and Islamic factions participated in the demonstration.

Demonstrators marched towards the Cinema area where a large rally was organized in which speeches by key figures in the city were delivered. The speakers expressed anger and resentment of the Israeli crimes against the political leaders and resistance activists, and called on the international community to take notice of the atrocities against the Palestinian people.

In Ramallah and ElBireh governorate, thousands of citizens condemned the extrajudicial execution of Al Rantisi, during a large demonstration today afternoon in the main mosque of Al Bireh City.

The demonstrators reaffirmed the Palestinian people's right to return to its lands, carrying banners and posters of the slain Hamas leader, and asserting the right to establish an independent Palestinian state.

As well, crowds of Tubas City took to the streets today on a large demonstration, condemning the Israeli crime.

Today early morning , many citizens from the nearby towns and villages gathered in the city of Tubas, despite the numerous Israeli military checkpoints and arbitrary measures by the Israeli occupying forces, to condemn the Israeli crime against Dr. Al Rantisi and two of his bodyguards.
