Al Qa’eda’s message of hate rejected in Australia
“As a Muslim Australian, I reject the reported recent threat that purports to be from an European cell of Al Qa’eda against Australia and call upon all Muslims to ignore all hate messages from abroad and to stand firm and united in our opposition to these messages.”
Said Mr. Keysar Trad who works in the Muslim community in a number of capacities (outlined below). “Whilst I know that members of the Australian Muslim community do not take these threats seriously, it is important to assert our position that these threats are unwelcome and will be strongly opposed by Muslim Australians.”
Said Mr. Trad. “The war on Iraq has raised much opposition from the Australian public as well as Western people in general. This war is shaping up as one of the most significant tragedies of our time with the reported abuse and murder of Iraqi prisoners and the equally barbaric beheadings of hostages. We call on the world community to arrive at a quick resolution to this invasion and occupation through the United Nations. The abuses against Iraqi civilian prisoners by Coalition troops do not justify the beheadings, the occupation of Iraq does not excuse any group to threaten the security of civilians in a Western country. Civilian citizens should never be targeted because of the decisions of their governments. Islam as a faith makes every person accountable for his own actions, God tells us in the Noble Qur`an:
“No bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another.” This clearly means that Allah will condemn any person who targets an innocent civilian because of the actions of a government. I condemn and deplore the threats against Australia and call on my fellow Muslims to do the same.” Said Mr. Trad. Keysar Trad presently serves in the following capacities.
1 – Translator, interpreter and advisor to the Mufty of Australia.
2 – Director, Lebanese Muslims Association.
3 – Founder, Islamic Friendship Association of Australia Inc.
4 –
Trustee, Darul Uloom Islamic Academy of Brisbane.
