Russia: World Vision rushes further aid to terror zone
World Vision will today rush further medical supplies to hospitals dealing with the fall-out from the Beslan hostage massacre.
Supplies will include lung ventilation machines, bedside heart monitors and blood pressure gauges. The agency also plans to send toys to children's hospitals to assist the hundreds of children hurt during the crisis.
But World Vision staff note huge psychological needs exist among those not hospitalised and there is an urgent need to cater for them.
The agency has begun discussions with the Mayor of Beslan and the Chief Psychologist of North Ossetia to establish a psycho-social rehabilitation centre in the town of Vladikavkaz, close to Beslan.
