Cobb Files Formal Recount Demand
Today
Has Been Invited to Testify Before
Congress
Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb today announced his formal demand for a recount of the Ohio presidential vote, following Monday's official certification of the tally by Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell who admitted that "glitches" had occurred with Ohio's election process.
"What Mr. Blackwell calls 'glitches' are in fact widespread and systemic problems with the electoral process. By recounting the presidential ballots and investigating what went wrong on Election Day, we can address the problems and restore the integrity of the voting process," said David Cobb.
On Wednesday, December 8, Cobb will appear before the first congressional forum convened to address the widespread problems which plagued the Ohio election. The hearing, chaired by Representative John Conyers, is scheduled for 10 a.m. in room 2237 of the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C.
"We are encouraged that members of Congress are investigating what went wrong in Ohio. The Bush administration and much of the media seem obsessed with movements for democracy in the Ukraine and elsewhere in the world but ignore the struggles of ordinary Americans. If we want to export democracy, we must first produce it domestically," said Blair Bobier, Media Director for the Cobb-LaMarche campaign.
