North Shore Whale Stranding

Location of incident: Northshore city, Auckland

Incident Type: WHALE STRANDING

BEACHED WHALE:

A Whale beached itself on Narrow Neck Beach, (near boat ramp area), Devonport, Northshore city, Auckland.

Described as a `Greys Beaked Whale` which looks like a very large Dolphin. Dept of Conservation advised and Marine Mammal Ranger involved.

The Whale is currently being loaded onto a pontoon (1600hrs) and will be towed back out to sea. A large number of spectators and helpers are present.
