The Southern Civil Defence Headquarters have been activated following substantial rainfall over a 24-hour period. A state of emergency has not been declared, emergency services remain in a monitoring role. State Highway 1 is closed at both Waikouaiti and Milton. High tide was at 4:00 pm. Forecast is for continuing rain to midnight, easing off until 6:00 am, and then continuing rain.

Waikouaiti River burst banks by SH1 down to one lane between Hawksbury Estate and Waikouaiti River bridge.
State Highway 1 from prison turnoff Milburn to Clarksville closed.
Three Mile Hill Road, Dunedin, closed at Silverstream.
State Highway 1 at Abbotsford open, but severe flooding.
Severe flooding at Gladfield and Gladstone Roads, Mosgiel.
State Highway 83 between Pukeuri and Seven Mile Road closed (near Oamaru).
