ARC Chairman Mike
Lee has congratulated the government on its appointment of
Auckland Transition Agency Executive Chairman Mark Ford, and
is pledging his full cooperation with the work of the
agency.
"Mark Ford has given exemplary public service to
the Auckland region since 1992. He has undertaken
successful leadership roles as chief executive of the
Auckland Regional Services Trust and Watercare Services, and
as chair of the Auckland Regional Transport Authority
(ARTA). He has held these positions during very challenging
times for all of those organisations.
"The Government
has made a good call in selecting the best qualified person
to pilot Auckland through the very challenging time
ahead.
"The ARC looks forward to working with Mark Ford
and the Auckland Transition Agency in the interests of the
people of the region, to ensure transition to the new
Auckland Council is as seamless as possible."
