Ticketek Outlet Opens At Hamilton I-SITE

Ticketek outlet opens at Hamilton i-SITE

13 JANUARY 2010

As of today tickets for some of the biggest events in Hamilton can be purchased from Hamilton i-SITE in Garden Place. The i-SITE is one of several new outlets to offer Ticketek sales after an agreement between Hamilton City Council and Ticketek NZ Ltd. The deal sees Ticketek provide a full service ticketing system to Council’s Event Facilities Unit, which includes all Council sport and entertainment venues such as Founders Theatre, Clarence St Theatre, The Meteor, Waikato Stadium and Seddon Park. Tickets for events at Claudelands will also be available through Ticketek from 2011 once development of the venue is complete. The sheer scale of business has seen the company open a management office in Hamilton and enlist a growing network of Ticketek agencies – including Hamilton i- SITE.

Hamilton City Council Contracts Subcommittee chairperson Cr Maria Westphal said Ticketek is able to provide Council with the operational flexibility to easily handle Hamilton’s diverse and changing range of event and venue types. “Hamilton is increasingly becoming recognised as an events city and with projects such as the development of Claudelands currently underway, this is a reputation that we expect will continue to grow in the future. Therefore it was important for us to engage a supplier that was committed to not only handling ticket sales for our events and venues, but to also ensuring tickets for the city’s event were easily accessible to our residents,” she said.

Ticketek handles the ticketing for some of the city’s major events including the ITM400 Hamilton, 2010 World Rowing Championships and Rugby World Cup 2011 matches. Hamilton i-SITE manager Liz Stolwyk said the visitor centre’s new Ticketek offering means it is able to offer an even more comprehensive service to its customers. “Our consultants are true ambassadors for the city and as part of this they are constantly promoting the attractions and events that go on here. It makes sense therefore that as an extension of this they can now help customers secure tickets for these events through Ticketek.”

Other local Ticketek outlets include Founders Theatre, New World Te Rapa, Kukri (Victoria St), Super Liquor in Chartwell and Take Note Bookstore in Dinsdale. The new deal between Hamilton City Council and Ticketek means ticket purchases will no longer be available from branches of Hamilton City Libraries.
