Council Committed to Graham Condon Recreation and Sport Centre
The Christchurch City Council is committed to the development of the Graham Condon Recreation and Sport Centre and remains confident that the project exceeds the requirements of the city plan and all other regulatory requirements applying to the project.
"We recognise the right of Northlands Pak'n Save and Foodstuffs South Island to appeal the resource consent for the centre and respect the legal process that is now underway," says Recreation and Sport Manager John Filsell.
The environment court can not hear the matter until the second half of the year. In the interim it will schedule court assisted mediation in the next two months to try to get this matter resolved.
"There is very strong community support for the new complex, and the Council will continue to do all it reasonably can to ensure that the $13 million project proceeds."
