Opawa Universal Diary - Saturday 29 May 2010

At approximately 9.50 pm on Saturday 29 May 2010, a male Caucasian has entered the Opawa Universal Diary armed with a firearm.

The male has confronted the shop owner and demanded cash. There was a struggle between the shop owner and the offender before the offender managed to leave with a quantity of tobacco.

The owner received minor injuries to his head.

The offender was seen to get into the front passenger seat of a silver four door sedan motor vehicle that was parked on the zebra crossing directly outside the diary.

The vehicle has driven away from the dairy along Opawa Road towards Richardson Tce.

Police are still in the process of speaking to witnesses. However they need more information about the vehicle seen parked outside the dairy at the time of the aggravated robbery.

People who can help with information are asked to contact Constable Grant Cowan of the Christchurch South Police on 3632576.
