Allan Boreham to be Assistant Commissioner

Allan Boreham to be Assistant Commissioner Auckland

Superintendent Allan Boreham has been provisionally appointed as the Assistant Police Commissioner for Auckland, the Commissioner of Police, Howard Broad, said today.

The provisional appointment will be confirmed subject to internal appointment processes being completed.

Mr Broad said that Superintendent Boreham had comprehensive policing experience in a variety of roles over his 25 years of policing service. Much of his career has been spent in Auckland. At present he is the District Commander for Waikato, a position he has held since January 2008.

"Assistant Commissioner Boreham will take up his new role at a crucial time, with the establishment of the Super City later this year. One of his first roles will be to provide me with assurance that the Police structures in Auckland are sufficiently aligned with the new local body to achieve complementary objectives around safer communities. In doing this, he will draw on a considerable amount of analysis undertaken by his predecessor, Assistant Commissioner Steve Shortland," said Mr Broad.

The Commissioner said that Assistant Commissioner Boreham, as the most senior Police Officer in Metropolitan Auckland, will chair the Board of Management comprising the District Commanders of Waitemata, Auckland City, and Counties Manukau, the Superintendent in charge of AMCOS and the Centre Manager of Northcoms.

Mr Broad said he wishes to acknowlege the role of the recently retired Assistant Commissioner for Auckland, Steve Shortland and the Acting Assistant Commissioner, George Fraser for the good work they had undertaken while fulfilling the role.

Career highlights of Allan Boreham:

District Commander Waikato

Centre Manager for Northern Communications Centre

Area Commander Eastern Waikato

Road Policing Manager Wellington

Detective Senior Sergeant Auckland CIB
