Four Year Old Home Alone

Four Year Old Home Alone

North Shore Police are expressing their gratitude to a man who discovered a four year old boy wandering alone in the North Shore suburb of Bayview early this morning.

Police say the child was found outside a Bayview address by the man at about 2.30am this morning Wednesday 7 July 2010. The child was crying and calling out “Mummy.”

Police went to a nearby address and it transpired that the child’s mother had gone out drinking three hours earlier and left the boy home alone.

The mother who is in her twenties was eventually located.

Police say charges are likely.

The boy is now in the care of his father at another address.

Police say that if it had not been for the alertness of the neighbour and the fact he was a light sleeper there is every chance the child would have wandered further and become lost on a miserable, cold, winter’s night.
