Wellington Police locate Lau Leota

Wellington Police locate Lau Leota

Police have located Lau Leota, following his disappearance a week ago.

Detective Sergeant Dan Keno of the District Child Protection Team says the 41 year-old was arrested last night after his vehicle was located by Police in Berhampore, Wellington.

"Mr Leota faces one charge of assault with intent to injure and will be appearing in the Wellington District Court today."

Dan Keno says Police have worked with a number of partner agencies over the past week, including the Department of Immigration and Child, Youth and Family to ensure Leota was located and to ensure the ongoing care and protection of his 7 year-old daughter was addressed.

"Police would like to thank the community for their interest in this particular case, which has ensured a successful outcome."
