eDay - call for volunteers

Want to do your bit to help the environment? Volunteers are needed to assist at Westpac Stadium on Saturday 6 November as part of New Zealand's annual eDay.

150 volunteers are needed to ensure the event runs smoothly - so gather your friends and volunteer for a four hour shift. The event is open to the public from 9am till 3pm.

eDay is a drive-through recycling event which gives people the opportunity to recycle unwanted electronics, such as computers and mobile phones, in an eco-friendly fashion.

This event will see New Zealanders volunteering their time in over 40 centres throughout the country.

Wellington City Council Waste Minimisation and Education Manager Donna Sherlock encourages Wellingtonians to take advantage of the opportunity to do their bit for the environment and community.

"Last year, capital city households dropped off 97 tonnes of electronic waste. We're hoping to get an even larger number this year."

If you are interested in volunteering or want to find out more information about eDay, please contact Donna Sherlock on 803 8625, 021 227 8625, email donna.sherlock@wcc.govt.nz or go to www.eday.org.nz
