Motorcyclist Crashes After Pursuit

Motorcyclist Crashes After Pursuit

Location: Milton
District: Southern

At about 2.50pm on Friday 29th October 2010, a 24 year old Electrician from Christchurch has been caught travelling 148kmh on State Highway 1 south of Milton on his motorcycle.

Police turned to apprehend him activating lights and siren.

The offender has failed to stop and there has been a short pursuit of about 1 kilometre.

The offending driver has been travelling too quickly and failed to take a moderate right hand bend with a 75kmh advisory limit, crashing into a ditch.

He has suffered moderate chest injuries and was flown to Dunedin Hospital by Helicopter as a precautionary measure.

Prior to being clocked at 148kmh there had been complaints relating to dangerous overtaking.

He is likely to face charges of dangerous driving and failing to stop.

It seems that his decision to fail to stop was his apprehension for speeding and the fact he did not have a motorcycle licence.
