Have an Auckland Zoo-style Christmas

Auckland Zoo’s ever-popular annual Christmas event is taking place on Friday, 3 December from 6pm to 8.30pm.

This year, Narnia Christmas at the Zoo will be a magical, fun-filled celebration where children will have a chance to visit Santa in the Narnia-themed grotto from 6pm to 8pm.

As always, there will be non-stop entertainment at the Band Rotunda including live music with the Zoolu’s Band, giveaways and free face painting for the kids. There’s also the chance for kids to have their photos taken at the bow of a ship to celebrate the release of The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

All children will receive a Christmas present, and the animals won’t miss out, with the Zoo offering Christmas-themed enrichment presents for them too.

In keeping with the maritime theme, visitors can buy a raffle ticket at the Band Rotunda to win an amazing private sailing on the heritage vessel Ted Ashby, a ketch-rigged deck scow, thanks to Voyager New Zealand Maritime Museum. All proceeds from these tickets will go toward the Auckland Zoo Conservation Fund.

WildZone gift shop will also be open during the event for Christmas shopping.

The Zoo is encouraging event goers to give back by purchasing a Christmas decoration to hang on your Christmas tree at home. The decorations are made from recycled paper, packed with herb seeds, and can be planted when you take your Christmas tree down. All proceeds from the decorations will go to the Auckland Zoo Conservation Fund – supporting the conservation of endangered animals in the wild, here in New Zealand and overseas.

Narnia Christmas at the Zoo is sponsored by 20th Century Fox The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and supported by 91 ZM.
