Christchurch to host Rugby World Cup 2011 delegation
Representatives from Scotland's Rugby World Cup 2011 team will visit Christchurch training and match facilities tomorrow (Thursday 20 January)
Management representatives from all of the teams that will be based in Christchurch for the Tournament have been invited to visit the city and view the match stadium, training venues and accommodation ahead of RWC 2011. They also meet with city officials to talk about Christchurch and discuss hosting initiatives. Local media has been given the opportunity to talk to the team representatives during each visit at specified times.
Rugby New Zealand 2011 (RNZ 2011) is organising team site visits for each of the 20 countries participating in RWC Cup 2011 so team management can become familiar with the venues and facilities ahead of the Tournament.
Christchurch City Council Recreation and Sport Unit Manager John Filsell says this is a great opportunity to showcase the excellent facilities that Christchurch has to offer countries based here for RWC 2011.
"We are excited to be hosting teams from these great sporting nations here in Christchurch and I'm sure that they will be impressed with the city and our match and training facilities," he says.
