Captain Megan Wakefield returns from a hamstring injury that has kept her out of the side for the last two rounds.
The Wellington Blaze go into the last round of domestic women’s matches chasing spots in both the domestic Women’s Twenty20 Final and One-Day Final.
They will be guaranteed of a place in both Finals if they beat the Hinds in Saturday’s One-Day match and in one of the two Twenty20 fixtures on Friday and Sunday.
The Canterbury Magicians have already qualified top for the One-Day Final, which they will host in Christchurch on Sunday 30 January, but the venue for the Twenty20 Final has yet to be decided.
If the Blaze beat the defending champions Hinds in both Twenty20 matches this weekend then they will be assured of hosting that Final on 5 February, but one win from two would leave them relying on other results (between Canterbury and Otago) and possibly superior net run rate over either Canterbury or Central to secure hosting rights.
The
Points tables heading into this weekend’s fifth
and final round of matches are:
Action Cricket Twenty20: Wellington 28 (Net Run Rate 0.848), Canterbury 24 (NRR 0.784), Central Districts 24 (NRR .695), Otago 16, Auckland 4, Northern Districts 0
