Afternoon of Healing And Relaxation for the Community
Afternoon of Healing And Relaxation for the Community
Spirit Talk, Christchurch’s spiritual development and wellness centre, is to open its doors for a special afternoon of healing and relaxation for people adversely affected by the ongoing aftershocks.
Business owner Phyllis Brown hopes the event will give people the opportunity to share their experiences and talk openly about how the earthquake has affected them, both physically and emotionally.
The event, which takes place on Saturday 12th February at 2pm, will offer people a chance to share their experiences and learn practical breathing and relaxation techniques, a healing meditation and deeper work for those who need it. There is no formal charge to the event, but a koha/donation box will be on hand to support the centre.
Phyllis, known locally for her radio talk show ‘Spirit Talk’ and as regular contributor on CTV’s Good Living, has worked as a psychic medium and spiritual life coach for 22 years and boasts an international client base, spanning five continents. Her business, now based in 163 Madras Street, holds regular workshops and courses for those interested in developing the spiritual side of their lives.
Phyllis and husband Michael Brown lost their business ‘Threw the Keyhole’ after the devastating effects of the September 4th 7.1 earthquake. Since then, the Scot’s born couple have experienced their fair share of ups and downs trying to get their lives back on track but Phyllis remains upbeat about the future and hopes the special event will help people come to terms with the aftershocks and the change that has been forced upon them.
“Since the earthquake, people have been feeling quite disconnected and are no longer grounded, despite outward appearances and a perceived ability to cope with the continuing aftershocks.
“Spiritualism is all about the journey inwards and our connection to energy, so a life-changing event such as an earthquake has forced us all to reflect, take stock and look deeply at ourselves. The meditation should help people re-root themselves and restore lost energies, which have been fractured. The aim of the healing and relaxation session is to restore people’s sense of feeling whole again and will help return a sense of balance”, says Phyllis Brown.
