Auckland Transport- Weather Update

Auckland Transport has had numerous incidents of flooding and slips, particularly in the north of the region, following heavy rains.

Sections of Matakana Valley Rd (photos attached) remain closed and initial estimates are that it could be several days before it is re-opened to anyone other than residents. The road has seen more than 20 slips along its length.

In other incidents in the Rodney area:

Sections of Pakiri Road have been closed by large slips. These are expected to be cleared and the road re-opened to at least one lane by mid-afternoon.

Goat island Road was closed overnight after a large tree fell across it. The tree has now been removed and the road reopened.

Mahurangi East Road (just south of Arabella Rd) re-opened this morning after a large slip which has been cleared.

Sandspit Road saw flooding and slips and is open to one lane only.

Woodcocks Road is currently closed due to flooding, but is expected to reopen this morning as water levels are dropping quickly.

Kaipara Flats Road is flooded but still open. Motorists are advised to be cautious and avoid the area if possible.

Whangaripo Valley Road closed due to flooding but should re-open within a matter of hours if the water recedes.

Sunnyside Road at Coatesville is flooded. The road is closed.

Waiheke Island also saw a number of incidents:

Three slips on Ocean View Road- it is anticipated the road will be open by early afternoon

Slip on Goodwin Road- the road should be open by early afternoon

One slip on Waiheke Road- the road should be open by early afternoon

A large slip on Gordon Road- open to one lane

Other parts of the region report surface flooding only.
