Statement from Brian Coker's family

This statement is from Helen Coker, the wife of Brian Coker, 52, who had both his legs amputated in Christchurch and is now in a stable condition in Waikato Hospital.

"I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in rescuing my husband Brian Coker from the Pyne Gould Building on Tuesday 23 February at about 7pm.

"There have been a number of conflicting reports and as a family we are concerned about that and want to ensure the right information is out there.

"So with that in mind, we'd like to offer the media the opportunity to ask whatever questions you want and we as a family will endeavour to respond if we can.

"I want you to understand that none of us feels capable of fronting any media at this time and all our energies are focussed on Brian's well being.

"However we understand there is interest and so will take the time to answer your questions.

"Once we have done that, we would like to concentrate on Brian and his rehabilitation."
