Worldwide Event - Stop Executions in Iran

Human Chain Project's Worldwide Event - Stop Executions in Iran!
Grafton Bridge, Auckland, Saturday 5 March, 10am – midday.

Hand in Hand, shoulder to Shoulder in solidarity with those on death row, demanding unconditional release of all political prisoners and an immediate moratorium on the execution penalty in Iran, we will form human chains on bridges across the world! Please support this cause and be the voice of the voiceless.

We have set 5th March as our global action day, forming Human Chains across bridges in as many cities as possible throughout the globe to publicize the current wave of executions in Iran.

There have been over 110 confirmed executions in the past months. 117 political prisoners and prisoners of conscience have also been sentenced to death and await their fate on death row.

Due to the fact that at least 1500 of protesters were arrested in Tehran just on 14 February 2011 and that State Media refered to them as "MEK and Monarchis Supporters & seditionists" which could carry a Moharebeh (enemity against God) charge, we are more determined than ever to continue with this campaign as those lives are in imminent danger, hence we need your support on this.

So far 8 cities have joined in to organize their own Human chain on March 5th.

We are asking New Zealanders to support the Iranians who are brave enough to protest under a terrible regime. Please come along to show your support! I know many of us would rather be showing support for Christchurch but this is also a huge issue and the time to make a stand is now! We want to let the Iranian government know that the world is watching!

Reporters Without Borders says 32 journalists and 11 bloggers are imprisoned in Iran, making Iran the largest jail for journalists in the world. Please run an article based on this release to encourage kiwis to attend this protest.
