Water supply returned to residents - CCC

Water supply returned to residents

Water supply was restored to almost all Christchurch homes over the
weekend.

Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker says water supply was returned to all city
homes by Sunday night, with the exception of some small areas at the top
of Scarborough. Work is continuing today to restore water supply to
these areas.

Water pressure across the system is now operating at normal levels.

"This is good news for the city and I'd like to thank our staff and
contractors who have worked so hard over the past week and during the
weekend to get the water supply back on for our residents."

The boil water notice is still in place across the city. This will be
reviewed in coming days as water testing continues.

If your home or business does not have water, please report this as soon
as possible to the Christchurch City Council by calling (03) 941 8999 or
0800 800 169 or filling in the "No Water" notification form that will be
available online today at http://nowater.ccc.govt.nz/.

Before doing this please check that the water supply valve at the street
boundary (the toby) is turned on and whether or not your neighbours have
water.

If you have leaks within your property boundary you will need to make
your own arrangements for a plumber to make a permanent repair to them.
The Earthquake Commission (EQC) is able to help with payments up to
$2000 through the emergency works grant.

Residents must continue to conserve water across the city. There is a
total ban on watering gardens. The Council will advise when this ban is
lifted.
