At approximately 02.45pm two males with their faces disguised have entered the Elgin Dairy situated on Childers Road Gisborne armed with a weapon.
Inside the shop they have threatened the owner with the weapon before seizing the shop till and running from the scene. They have run through the Reynolds Creek area towards Totara Street where they were apprehended due to excellent assistance from members of the public.
The till and contents were also
recovered.
Two males aged 14 and 19 have been arrested
and charged with aggravated robbery and appeared in the
Gisborne District Court today where they were remanded in
custody.
The weapon alleged to have been used has not yet been located and the Police are requesting that any residents in the Childers Road and Totara Street area please check their properties for a weapon that may have been discarded or thrown away.
The weapon is possibly a tomahawk or claw hammer.
