Warrants issued in connection to Wellington serious assaults

Warrants issued for three men in connection to Wellington city serious assaults in late August

Wellington Police are continuing to investigate some serious assaults in the city at the end of August and have issued warrants for the arrest of three people alleged to be involved.

Detective Sergeant Shane Dye of the Wellington CIB says in the early hours of Thursday 25 August 2011, a 19 year old man was knocked unconscious, requiring hospitalisation, following an assault in Courtenay Place. A 20 year old man was also assaulted but received only minor injuries.

In the early hours of Sunday 28 August 2011, two males, aged 17 and 18 years were bottled in Courtenay Place, receiving minor injuries. A short time later, a 19 year old male was then knocked unconscious and suffered several broken teeth in the assault.

"In all of these incidents in late August, the offenders travelled in a white van. We have today had warrants issued by the Wellington District Court for three men, believed to be involved."

They are 26 year old gang member Dean Wilson, and gang prospects 26 year old Lausii Taulupe and 19 year old Samuel Gray.

Detective Sergeant Dye says the trio are believed to be in the wider Wellington area and Police would like assistance from the public to locate these three men, who should not be approached.

"We urge anyone who recognises these three men or anyone with any information as to their whereabouts and those who may recognise any of these men to phone us on (04) 381 2000 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
