Fatal Crash At Mount Wellington
Police are
investigating a fatal crash on the intersection of the
South-Eastern Highway and Carbine Road, Mount Wellington.
The crash occurred about 0250 am this morning 7 January. It appears that two vehicles were racing along Carbine Road towards Waipuna Rd. The vehicle driven by the deceased was driving along the South Eastern Highway and had the green light at the intersection.
His Honda Civic car was T-boned by one of the racing cars which came through the red light as they crossed the intersection. The car that hit the Honda was a Subaru Forrester which turned out to be a stolen car.
One occupant of the Subaru Forester was seen getting into the other racing car which immediately left the scene. Another occupant from the Forester was located by police in a nearby road. That person was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The deceased is a 22 year old man.
